Our Founder-Ephraem LeiTNER
Leitner founder Ephraem Leitner grew up in South Tyrol, a German speaking area in the picturesque European Alps where he developed a passion for cycling since early childhood. Falling in love with Australia during a holiday, he calls Australia his permanent home and founded Leitner Electric Bikes in 2013.
At the time, electric mobility options were limited by high prices and restricted access. From the outset, he focused on building practical, reliable electric bikes designed for everyday use.
OUR STORY
What began as a small Melbourne-based operation has grown into a national institution with a large and established rider base. Over more than a decade, we have expanded our infrastructure, warehousing and distribution capabilities to support riders across Australia.
Over this time, our approach has been shaped by real-world use rather than theory. Feedback from tens of thousands of Australian riders has informed how we refine components, improve durability and simplify ownership. This long-term learning cycle allows us to build products and systems that prioritise consistency and reliability, rather than short-lived design trends.
